Les tyrans syracusains et la qualification par la victoire : les fonctions de stratège autocratôr de Gélon à Agathocle, ve-iiie siècles avant J.-C.

Abstract : In Syracuse the strategos autocrator function has often been considered as an obligatory step in the process of tyranny. By analysing Gelo, Dionysius the Elder and Agathocles coups d’état we shall be less affirmative, even if, in Sicilia, military victory qualified indeed for supreme power.
