Urban planning and urbanization in 3rd Millennium Syria. Tell Al-Rawda in context

This article is intended to show the original form that the urbanization of Syria followed, to result in the middle of the IIIrd millennium in a generalization of the process of urbanization and the emergence of territorial states in the northern part of Syria, up to the arid steppe of central-west Syria (the Shamiyeh). This urban development owed nothing to Sumer. Particular reference will be made to the discoveries made at Tell Al-Rawda (central-west Syria), but also on a larger scale, thanks to the Badiyah project.
