Karl-Theodor Zauzich acted as professor of Egyptology at the University of Würzburg from 1981 until 2004. During this period, he created a centre for Demotic studies there that was internationally renowned and attracted PhD-students from all over the world. This festschrift for his 75th birthday brings together some of those who have received direct and significant impulses for their career from Prof. Zauzich. According to the honouree's interests, most of the 16 contributions are devoted to Demotic studies, several texts are presented as first editions. However, questions of Egyptian art history, the interdependency of Egyptian and Aramaic juristic terminology as well as the reception of ancient Egyptian literature are also covered.
