Vases en ronde : Ornements figuratifs et objets décoratifs dans la céramique attique du Ve siècle av. J.-C.

Abstract : During the first half of the fifth century, on approximately thirty vases, especially on cups representing banquets, an organized system of figurative decoration, called predella, was developed: friezes of vases painted in black silhouette that are placed under the main representation. Through analyzing some of the vases from this corpus, it appears that not only the ornament must be considered as a structural part of the image, but also that the presumed opposition which separates it from the figure must be reconsidered under the perspective of connivance.
