Mortels et Immortelles dans la Théogonie

Abstract : This article proposes a new interpretation of the conclusion of Hesiod’s Theogony. The catalogue of goddesses at the end of the poem, I argue, articulates an essential truth about the bond between gods and mortals — and more particularly between goddesses and men — and about the link between myth and cult as the Greeks understood it.
