Qualité de vie et estime de soi de personnes âgées autonomes résidant dans un habitat intermédiaire

Abstract : In this article, the author studies the link between the quality of life of autonomous elderly people and the type of housing they live in. A total of 534 residents from old people's homes have answered a questionnaire including multiple life quality factors. Among the residents, there were 149 men and 387 women, middle-aged of 81.6 years. When residents are generally happy with their housing environment, it appears self-assessments of their physical health, well-being and self-esteem vary according to the type of residence (P < .001). This study tends to show that the quantity of services is not the essential element to determine the quality of intermediate housing; it would be more relevant to take into account the person's psychological state.
