Abstract : Presentation of : "Exegesis and lectio divina in the medieval Iberian Peninsula" The papers collected here explore the development in tandem of the biblical exegesis and the lectio divina, in the Iberian Peninsula during the Middle Ages. This project was born out of the realization that there was a hiatus between the end of the VIIIth c. and the end of the XIIth c., during which no known verse-by-verse commentaries of the Bible were written in these territories, despite the lectio divina still being performed. In order to shed new light on the neglected choices leading to the production and conservation of exegetical texts, the historians and philologists gathered here analyze the very close link between exegesis and lectio divina in Isidore of Sevilla’s texts and in preaching, as well as the circulation of these texts and the development of exegesis outside the immediate purpose of the lectio divina. A counterpoint underscores their use within the framework of the controversy among the three religions of the Book.
