Les langues vivantes à l’école russe après la réforme de 1871 : recherche de revanche ou défi de modernisation ?

Abstract : The reform of the system of Russian secondary education of 1871 giving priority to ancient languages in boys' gymnasiums, has also brought about important changes in the teaching of the modern languages of these institutions, but also in the type schools modern (real schools, gymnasiums and girls' institutes, corps des cadets, etc.) It is the cultural content that will be amplified and put in the foreground in the two, yet distinguished by the volume and the educational choices. The training of oral and written language skills already existing in modern-type establishments will be considerably reinforced by the progress of the direct methodology and its successful fusion with the elements of the traditional.
