Crisis y prosperidad: el Clásico Terminal en Naachtun
Résumé
"Naachtun, as other cities of North Petén, suffered a crisis at the end of the Late Classic period, but it differs by a relatively substantial occupation during the Terminal Classic (AD. 830-950/1000). Although, the site shows a numerical reduction of its population and its spatial contraction into the complexes of patios of Group B mainly, the remaining Terminal Classic social groups enjoyed a definite degree of economic pros-perity, in particular due to their participation to new networks of long-distance exchanges. The evidence is given by material culture with a high proportion of non-local raw materials. After giving an overview Terminal Classic of Naachtun, the paper characterizes the prosperity of the local elites that lived in Group B during this troubled period of crisis, and identifies the socioeconomic adaptations having allowed this relatively numerous population to stay in a partially abandoned site."
