Au fil de l’eau et de la lame. Mobilier protohistorique découvert en milieu aquatique en Midi-Pyrénées : analyses et interprétations

Abstract : Recurring discoveries of protohistoric material (weapons, small metallic objects, coins, pottery, sculpture) in water courses, especially in crossing places, or in areas of still water, is an intriguing phenomenon. The purpose of this study is to produce an inventory for the Midi-Pyrénées, a vast region that runs between the Central Massif and the Pyrenees, for which there is no overall study, and to ask about the modes and causes of the immersion of such material. A perspective on an inter-regional scale is proposed to cover the entire Garonne basin in the broadest sense. Many answers or hypotheses are needed to explain this complex phenomenon, characterised by a constant presence from the middle of the 3rd millennium to the 1st century BC, and with varying evolutions over the course of antiquity.
