« À l’école, le français c’était pas ça ! » L’étudiant dyslexique présente t’il encore des difficultés lors d’une tâche de production textuelle à l’écrit ?

Abstract : In this paper, the first analyses of a larger study about the spoken and written production of dyslexic university students are presented. Written texts of dyslexic (mean age: 21,7) and control (mean age: 21,8) university students are analysed in order to see if there are differences between these two populations concerning the managing of (1) spelling and (2) the syntactic packaging. In previous analyses with the same populations, dyslexic students report having still difficulties when they compose a written text, whether it be with spelling, syntax, or the organization of the text. A speech diagnostic and neuropsychological assessment confirm that dyslexic students still have difficulties with spelling, as with reading, and that they also have an atypical attentional functioning. For this present study, dyslexic students, as well as a group of paired control students, were asked to produce written and spoken narrative and expository texts. The written text, which were collected using Eye and Pen © software with graphics tablets, were transferred and coded in CLAN. Results reveal that, if dyslexic and control students have the same pattern of errors and encode their message with similar syntactic structures, dyslexics make significantly more errors than controls, whether concerning lexical and grammatical spelling or in syntactic structures, themselves.
