Modélisation 3D diachronique du site de Xanthos

Abstract : This new project constitutes the extension of preliminary works carried out in Xanthos (Virtual Retrospect 2007). It aims at bringing together 3D modelling and photography within the frame of archaeological research. A precise zone of the city will be systematically surveyed by means of laser ray and an extensive photographic coverage will be completed. Our objective is to build a diachronic 3D modelling of the remaining buildings since the origins of the settlement (VIth B.C) throughout 12 centuries. The model will constitute the basis of an urbanistic study of the most representative part of the city. It will provide necessary information for the carrying out of a GIS system devoted to the archaeological researches in Xanthos. A topographer, the Ausonius PTF 3D, the archaeologists in charge of the site and a Canadian student (UQAM) are members of the project which is funded through the Conseil régional d’Aquitaine.
