Le chaudron de Lingenfeld (D, Rheinland-Pfalz) : identification de caractéristiques techniques et stylistiques communes à la visselle de bronze de La Tène finale en Gaule Belgique.

Der Lingenfelder Kessel wurde im Jahr 1973 bei Baggerarbeiten in einem alten Arm des Rheins bei Lingenfeld gefunden. Bei dem Fund handelt sich um dreißig Metallgefäße, die höchstwahrscheinlich während der Reichkrise des 3. Jh. geraubt und im Rhein versenkt wurden. Jedoch scheint der besprochene Kessel nicht dazu zu gehören. Trotz seines undatierbaren Kontexts weisen seine Herstellung und seine Verzierung auf einen spätlatènischen Ursprung hin und es wird in diesem Artikel versucht, die bestimmten technischen und stilistischen Elemente, die auf diese Datierung hinweisen, zu identifizieren und mit anderen Stücken dieser Periode zu vergleichen. Nach diesen Merkmalen ist dieser Kessel mit den sog. Aylesfordpfannen und mit den Holzeimern mit Bronzebeschlägen (Goeblingen-Nospelt, Aylesford, ...) zu vergleichen. Wenn die Frage nach der Datierung beantwortet werden könnte, stellt dieser Fund noch die Frage nach dem Herstellungsorts, der im Zusammenhang mit den erwähnten Formen zu klären bleibt.

The cauldron from Lingefeld was found during the dredging of an old arm of the Rhine in 1973 in the municipality Lingenfeld. The discovery consists of thirty pieces of metal dishes, which were most likely stolen during the Crisis of the Third Century and sunk into the Rhine river. However, it seems that the discussed cauldron does not belong to the hoard. Despite its non-datable context, the manufacture and the decoration point towards a dating in the late La Tène period. This article aims also to spot the technical and stylistic elements that lead to this dating, and to identify and compare it with other pieces of this period. According to these technical characteristics the cauldron from Lingenfeld is to be compared with the so-called “pan” from Aylesford and the wooden buckets with bronze fittings (Goeblingen Nospelt, Aylesford,...). Finally, if the question of the dating could be answered, this discovery still raises the question of the origin of those pieces, which remains to be clarified together with the mentioned dishes.
