Alix Cleo Roubaud was a photographer. At the time of her death in 1983, her husband had her journal published, adding to it a preface and some photographs. What we examine here is this quite singular paratext, observing the ways in which it comments upon and defines the text within the Journal itself, but also how it prolongs the life and the works of an artist who disappeared so suddenly. Both intimate and artistic, this paratextual dialogue between husband and departed wife becomes a dynamic activity, capable of opening Alix's text onto another text, which has not yet been written, but which enlists them, both her and her husband. This is a text which binds man and woman, visual and verbal, humankind and its works, beginning and ending, being and memory.
Alix Cleo Roubaud était photographe. Lorsqu'elle meurt en 1983, son mari fait publier son journal en y ajoutant une préface et des photographies. Nous étudierons ici ce paratexte particulier en observant comment il commente et définit le texte du Journal, mais aussi comment il continue la vie et l’œuvre d'une artiste disparue trop brutalement. Dialogue intime et artistique entre l'époux et sa compagne disparue, le paratexte devient ici une pratique dynamique capable d'ouvrir le texte d'Alix vers un autre texte, pas encore écrit, qui l'engage, elle et son mari. Un texte qui relie l'homme et la femme, le visuel et le verbal, mais aussi l'homme et son œuvre, l'origine et la fin, un être et sa mémoire.
