La présence du côt en Touraine (1783-...) Recherche sur l'histoire des cépages de Loire, 7

Abstract : The variety called cot (côt) was introduced in Touraine from the South West of France and was very popular in the early 19th cent. Nevertheless, there is no evidence of its introduction before the 1780s although it is very likely to have been cultivated at an earlier but unknown date. A general lack of evidence affects most varieties of the Loire Valley not con-nected to Burgundy or Ile de France between 1550 and 1780 but cot is not mentioned in Touraine before 1550 while other varieties are.
