NSTITUTIONALIZED ITINERARIES: LIABILITY AND EXCLUSION DYNAMICS IN UNACCOMPANIED MIGRANT CHILDREN IN GALICIA

ITINERARIOS INSTITUCIONALIZADOS: RESPONSABILIDADES Y DINÁMICAS DE EXCLUSIÓN EN LA PROTECCIÓN DE LOS MENORES MIGRANTES NO ACOMPAÑADOS EN GALICIA

This paper aims at revealing the partial results of the research I have been conducting since 2010 with the community of unaccompanied children and youngsters hosted by the protection system of the Autonomous Community of Galicia (Spain). The research focuses on a case study, including adolescents from a specific territory of Morocco, the province of Beni Mellal, one of the most relevant out-bound migration regions into Spain and Italy. The study points out some gaps in the implementation of the rights of the child that blocks the access to protection, conditioning his/her vital trajectory and social integration after youngster's departure from the hosting institution.

Este artículo se propone revelar los resultados parciales de la investigación que he estado desarrollando desde el año 2010 con la comunidad de niños y jóvenes migrantes no acompañados acogidos por el sistema de protección de la Comunidad Autónoma de Galicia (España). La investigación se centra en un estudio de caso, tomando los jóvenes procedentes de un territorio concreto de Marruecos, la Provincia de Beni Mellal, región emisora por excelencia de flujos migratorios hacia España e Italia. El estudio revela la existencia de ciertas lagunas en la aplicación de los derechos de los menores migrantes y en el acceso a la protección dentro del sistema autonómico de protección de la infancia donde son acogidos, viéndose condicionadas sus trayectorias vitales y de inserción social tras la salida de los centros.
