La (re-)construction d’un ethos discursif dans les énoncés au discours direct : la subjectivité à l’œuvre

Abstract : Every utterance contains more or less some touches of subjectivity. So does reported speech that embodies the representation of speech and thought. Indeed, reported speech involves the confrontation of two instances of subjectivity: the reported speaker and the reporter. Based on a corpus containing excerpts from fiction and newspaper articles in English, this study aims at analysing how a discursive ethos is elaborated by highlighting the presence of subjectivity in utterances of direct speech.
