“ Libérer l’Azawad ”. La reformulation des luttes politiques touarègues

Abstract : The semantic registrer of the Tuareg struggles of liberation has evolved : « Free ‘Tuareg country’ (akal n Imajaghen) » became, one century and four generations later, « Free ‘Azawad’ ». The numerous uprisings of resistance that Tuareg in Sahara set to colonial and neocolonial powers share many similar grounds. Nevertheless, they have been re-formulated according to the changing historical and ideological context, and have been marked by the violence of confrontations with the established order, by the creation of new administrative and State entities and by the rough or negociated constraints which led the Tuareg people to profound internal social change. This paper analyses the current situation of conflict in Sahara.
