Questions méthodologiques pour construire la « ville » à partir des ESLOs

Abstract : The authors present their methodological choices for the collection and the treatment of oral data from ESLO, a corpus which attempts to develop a sound portrait of the city of Orleans. Three embedded levels of analysis are considered with the aim of accounting for variation most closely to its complexity. At the first one, a macro level, situations parameters are considered regarding factors traditionally retained by the variationist approach. The second one, a micro level, considers the interaction and what is actually played out between speakers. Finally, the observation of the language’s form, more or less intentionally selected by the speakers, constitutes the third level of analysis. The interweaving of three levels is reported by an assessment of the situation in relation to every stage.
