Abstract : [While the French territorial laws, since the end of the 1990s, testify to the geographical inculture with the elites governing the country, except for very rare ex-ceptions, it is imperative to wonder about the teaching of the geography. For this purpose, it is first necessary to recall the history of this teaching before questioning what the contribution of geography means and to specify its desirable ends in the future.]
