La santé environnementale à l’ère des données ouvertes: le cas de la qualité de l’air urbain en PACA

Abstract : In the field of Environmental Health, information and communication on the monitoring of the air quality are considered in their relationship with open data and technical instruments. The subject of the Air quality and its supervision is envisaged as a social and political construct in debate in the public space expanded to societal issues. The communication of prescription, which is based on National and European legal texts, establishes the joint necessity of both supervision and the right to information for stakeholders. In the region, it is portrayed by associations in charge of the Air quality surveillance like AirPaca in Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur. They are in charge of data producing and data diffusion. We analyze AirPaca’s communication as a study case. The open data production and interpretation methods demonstrate the necessity to clarify elements of complexity related to technical and scientific criteria; they open a political questioning on the production, processing and circulation of information on the quality of air in the public space.
