Le témoignage filmé : un entretien comme les autres ? Retour sur l’enquête « le temps de la coopération au Maghreb »

Abstract : With the generalization of the technical possibilities of taking pictures, video interviews filmed during social sciences surveys has become simpler. Collecting speech, sound and image in the same time can therefore seem the most obvious choice. This choice does not, however, dispense with thinking about what video recording may involve, both from the point of view of the investigative situation itself and from the nature and use of the material collected as a source for research. On the basis of a concrete collection of interviews, this text tries to revisit the debates and discussions that have been raised by the use of this tool. In particular, we will examine the particular nature of "camera time", the interference effects on the investigative situation, the possibilities of returning the image to the witnesses and the use of "off-text".
