Lindja e Albanologjisë sipas Shkrimeve Gjermane dhe Austriake [From the foreigner point of view: The birth of Albanologie in German and Austrian writings]

In this paper, the author aimed to contribute to the debate about hegemonic relations between the West European “cores” and southeast European "margins", by showing the links between mutually challenged and engendered quasi-anthropological traditions in the totalitarian projects of nation-building and empire-building. New aspects of a continuous resonance are addressed between a politically instrumentalized Albanian tradition of ‘‘folk’’ or people’s culture studies (kultura popullore) and a German-speaking tradition of Volkskunde and Völkerkunde grounded in Herderean Romanticism and the imperial ambitions of the nineteenth century. The successive German traditions of National-Socialist Volkskunde and Communist East German Ethnographie, until the revised tradition of Europaische Ethnologie in the 1990s, are shown to operate from a historicist tradition rather than from a critical tradition as a reflexive successor to former Volkskunde. In the course of this discussion, he paid particular attention to contextualizing the historical and current production of knowledge by the German and Austrian ‘‘West’’ on a Balkan and Albanian culture, which is reduced to its archaic or pre-modern ‘‘traditions’’ and its specific or antiquated ‘‘mentalities.’’
Me këtë shkrim kam qëllim të kontribuoj në debatin mbi marrëdhëniet hegjemonike midis "qendrës" perëndimore evro-piane dhe "margjinave" juglindore evropiane, duke i marrë në trajtim lidhjet midis traditave kuazi antropologjike të krijuara dhe të sfiduara reciprokisht në projektet totalitare të komb-formimit dhe të formimit imperial. Aspekte të reja të një rezonance të vazhdueshme do të adresohen lidhur me traditat e in-strumentalizuara politikisht të studimeve në gjuhë gjermane, Volkskunde dhe Völkerkunde, të trashëguara nga romantizmi herderian dhe ambiciet imperiale të shekullit të nëntëmbëdhjetë. Do të tregoj se traditat gjermane të njëpas-njëshme, si Volkskunde nacional-socialiste dhe Ethnographie komuniste gjer-mano-lindore, kanë operuar më tepër nga një traditë historiciste sesa nga një traditë kritike si vijim refleksiv ndaj Volkskunde-s së vjetruar. Në rrjedhën e diskutimit, vëmendje e veçantë i kushtohet kontekstualizimit historik e politik të prodhimtarisë së studimeve dhe dijeve nga kultura gjermane dhe austriake "perëndimore" mbi kulturën evropiane juglindore dhe shqiptare, e cila reduk-tohej në "traditat" arkaike paramoderne dhe mentalitetet e saj specifike ose prapanike.
