Elèves et enseignant face aux étrangetés culturelles. : Réflexions à partir de Chemin-d’école de Patrick Chamoiseau

Abstract : This article aims to discuss difficulties to translate and understand realia not between to languages, but within one, when cultural references are very far apart. We discuss two examples: the way George Sand remain faithful to the rural setting of her novel while addressing her book to the “Parisiens” and the way Patrick Chamoiseau, in his autobiographical narrative, renders the point of vue of a Creole boy discovering the strangerness of French metropolitan references taught in school.
