Ville et environnement

Abstract : The urbanization of the planet is the major geographical fact today: megacities, conurbations, peri-urban spread, push of small and medium towns ... Pressures on the environment are the artificialisation of soils and air , The drain on resources. Cities are specific living environments with their own atmosphere, vegetation and microclimates. In the city, the water, so vital, is badly divided; The treatment of waste is debated; Rehabilitating neighborhoods creates new sociospatial segregations. Now, the city is a political and marketing issue. What are the collective representations of nature and the environment? Is sustainable development possible? Are the regulations relevant? The authors, who choose their examples all over the world, offer a critical reflection and make the first synthesis of original research.
