Le succès de Lefebvre dans les urban studies anglo-saxonnes et les conditions de sa redécouverte en France

Abstract : Since the 1980s, when he was introduced by thinkers like David Harvey or Edward W. Soja, Lefebvre’s thoughts have been influential in the Anglo-American urban studies. During the 1990s, a consequent work of exegesis was made to contextualize and transpose his thought, before he was fully appropriated in contemporary readings of right to the city, critique of everyday life or debates on the production of space and time. This paper offers a synthesis of Lefebvre’s reception in the Anglo-American scholarship by its history and main themes. It is a prerequisite for rediscovering Lefebvre in France through these debates, and more broadly for re-appropriating his thoughts today.
