"E-maginaires" éducatifs : Nécessaires utopies ou inutiles innovations ?

Abstract : This paper studies the place of the imagination in the development of ICT in French universities, for the last fifteen years. The analysis crosses the perceptions of the various agents. We consider three levels of imagination : individual, collective and social and we add a fourth level : the imagination objectified by national projects. We have done a lexical analysis of several official texts and speeches about digital technologies’ integration in universities, and bring the emphasis on the argumentative vocabulary related to the imagination. This last one is crossed with teachers and students’ imagination, which comes from their perceptions of ICT in learning and teaching activities. The study raises the question of the role of these different imaginations : necessary utopia or useless innovations ?
