The monetary implications of Scottish independence for Scotland, the United Kingdom and Europe

Abstract : This article examines major monetary options for an independent Scotland. It then investigates what they would have meant for Scotland, the United Kingdom and Europe with regard to current concerns in the euro zone and in relation to the Scottish banking tradition.
