Abstract : Generated by interactive and real-time measurements capabilities of the web, audience metrics are now present in most of the online news organizations. Software solutions to control the editorial activity, these instruments broke into newsrooms in the form of real-time monitoring dashboard of audience behavior on news websites. At the interface of supply and demand on the online news market, metrics frame the editorial production of online news organizations. In this paper, we consider metrics as agents of wider organizational and editorial changes in online journalism.
