La marche enjeu de santé publique et de qualité de vie. Importance d'une analyse spatialisée de la "marchabilité". Le cas de l'agglomération grenobloise

Abstract : In France, obesity now affects 15% of the population and only 24% of adults attain recommended levels of physical activity. Faced with these public health issues and concerns over sustainable development, walking now has a central place in research and public policy. This activity hasbeen declining and there are also wide disparities between the centre and peripheries of urban areras. Research in the Grenoble area has aimed to define an index of “ walkability “ as well as its cartographic representation. This index provides actors with a diagnostic tool to imagine targeted actions in terms of planning and the diffusion of information, the development of walking and the improvement of city dwellers’ health.
