What society does not want to see and what it gets rid of, is thrown away. It is so for the soldier of World War One, who lives on a territory out of society. Stuck in the mud, in the depths of a trench, his speech cannot be heard when he goes from village to village, to talk about the war. Chased away with stones, civil society condemns him to silence and madness. Writing then allows him to regain the lost dignity by giving back the soldiers, their voices. Indeed, it shapes the shapeless mud to transform it in an aesthetic creation and keep a trace of those men.
