Les librairies parisiens au XIXe siècle. Mobilités sociales et spatiales

Abstract : This article queries how booksellers appropriate the Parisian space, at a time of profound changes. It’s understanding of the issues the displacements and/or the implanting of the storekeepers, within the capital and sometimes outside, in terms of commercial dynamics and socio‑occupational stratifications on the one hand, and trajectories and interdependent relationship on the other hand. After the analysis, the city appears as the support and the reveling of upward or downward mobility of its actors and the book as a privileged observatory of the social and urban transformations of the 19th century.
