Genèse d’une villa carolingienne de l’arrière-pays biterrois (VIe-Xe s.) : la villa plaxano du cartulaire d’Aniane et la fouille des termes à Plaissan (Hérault)

Abstract : Emergency excavations undertacken during the construction of gas pipeline « Artère du Midi » permitted the exploration over about 3,000 square meters of a site from the early Middle Ages and the identification of one the first foundations of a cabin typical of the Mediterranean Languedoc area. The excavations are presented here in detail and are both replaced in their general context and in local population dynamics. The study suggests the installation of a rural settlment from about the end of the 6th century in a landscape that had not yet contained any major domanial center. No texts evoke the Plaxano villa before the years 830
