« La quantification des temporalités dans les recettes de cuisine en anglais », in Banks, David (ed.): La quantification dans le texte de spécialité, L'Harmattan. Paris, 2015, p. 141-157.
Résumé
In recipes the English prepositions IN and FOR do not function as is commonly established in the literature (Dowty, Beavers),
Inspite of telicity interpretations only FOR is used. For instance we find : Fry the onions for 2 minutes, then add the
tomatoes. The interpretation is that the endpoint of the frying process is implied ; otherwise the addition of the
tomatoes would never take place. This raises the question of the data used for the argumentations.
