Le frère, le djinn et le temps qui passe

Dominique Casajus

Résumé

The article critically analyzes two tales collected between 1976 and 1980 in northern Niger, in the course of anthropological fieldwork on Tuareg social relations. Tales highlight the importance of the brother-sister relationship in Tuareg oral literature, an importance reflecting the privileged position the relationship occupies in the social network. This article essentially focus on "Teshewa," collected in February 1980 from Ghaîsha Ult Khamed, of the Iberdyanan tribe, the imghad of the Kel Ferwan Tuareg who are nomads west of Agadez, Niger. Then it examines a second, "Young Girl Kidnapped by a Djinn," collected from numerous individuals in the same region, only in terms of the questions raised by the first.
