Les fluides d'Aristote : Lait, sang et sperme dans l'Italie du Sud

Abstract : Blood, milk, and sperm maintain and reproduce life, but are all three fluids that cultures symbolically manipulate to affirm masculine domination. Studying various religious and cultural rites and traditions of southern Italy, and starting with Aristotles system of fluids, Salvatore D'Onofrio demonstrates how since millennia Mediterranean cultures have perpetuated themselves and adapted to economic, social, and religious changes.
