Les plaintes en santé environnementale et l’expertise épidémiologique

Abstract : Complaints in environmental health and epidemiological expertise Technical installations are incriminated in health damages they are suspected to cause among residential populations living nearby. These various incriminations are called here complaints in environmental health as they concern relations between the health of residents and their environment of life. As they are not validated by epidemiological expertise, there is no ground for public decision in the name of health imperatives. Based on the description of a diversity of complaints in Brittany, the article analyses their process of construction and the ways by which health arguments develop. The contribution of local knowledge supporting these complaints is discussed in its capacity to take part in the process of public decision and in the implication of the association of concerned communities in the process of epidemiological expertise.
