This is an introduction to a special feature on "Race, Ethnicity and Publishing in the UK and South Africa", which weaves a dialogue over the questions of publishing and ethnicity in the English-speaking world. The contributions intersect with, and develop, issues of interest to scholars bridging the fields of ethnic studies, literature, and publishing. This feature was developed from papers originally presented in 2012 at an international conference on "Race, Ethnicity and Publishing".
