Ibn al-Ḥāğib et la flexion désinentielle : croyant pas pratiquant

Abstract : This article aims to show how, on the status of ʾiʿrāb (inflectional ending, case markers as mood markers), Ibn al-Ḥāğib (d. 646/1249), in the self-commentary he made of his own Kāfiya fī al-naḥw (“The Precis of the syntax”), and even if he explicitly believes in ʾiʿrāb as part of his grammatical tradition, does not any more when explaining some grammatical phenomena. On the contrary he obviously only has in mind the concurrent phenomenon on the inflection ending, namely the pause (waqf), thenceforward put as the only existing at the expense of the inflection ending. That is what shows the analysis of the infraverbal speech of Ibn al-Ḥāğib which contradicts his explicit verbal declaration of belief in ʾiʿrāb
