The Tocharian background of Old Turkic yangï kün

This paper investigates the meaning of the Old Turkic term yangï kün, literally 'New Day' under the light of the Tocharian A noun which it translates. From the analysis of all relevant occurrences, it is confirmed that this Tocharian A noun and its Tocharian B match mean 'feast', 'wonder', and by extension 'festival, ceremony'. An etymology of the nouns in question is provided.
