Abstract : This poster analyses the spatio-temporal expansion of French-speaking theoretical and quantitative geography through the prism of a scientific event that is characteristic of this scientific movement: the European Colloquiums of Theoretical and Quantitative Geography (ECTQG). The analysis is based on the lists of the paper abstracts of the various colloquiums. 34 years after the first ECTQG in Strasbourg (1978), this event is still being organized and, as the graph included in the poster illustrates, the overall number of French-speaking participants has increased over the years. The number of papers presented rose from around twenty during the first two seminars to almost 140 during the last two (Athens, 2011 and Dourdan, 2013). However, these colloquiums have been hosted in very diverse locations, therefore illustrating the rotating aspect of this event at a European level. The second part of the poster particularly focuses on the 2013 seminar in Dourdan. The contributors (regardless of their actual presence in the ECTQG or whether they are Francophones or not), are individually represented in the graph by their name and clustered around the cities that correspond to their institutional affiliation. The number of co-signatures between cities is illustrated by lines that vary in thickness. The number of French-speaking geographers increased again compared to the previous edition, this being mainly the result of numerous collaborations between French-speaking European movement clusters. This 2013 ECTQG exemplifies very well the continuous structuration of a European space of scientific cooperation with multiple links between Rouen, Paris, Strasbourg, Besançon, Toulouse, Aix-en-Provence, Lyon, Louvain-la-Neuve and even Luxembourg.
