Sustainable development : a routine concern for landscape practices ?

Abstract : This article focuses on the impact of sustainable development of the landscape gardener profession. For this recent profession, which is based on an old tradition, it is important to be recognized as the pioneer in this field compared to the new principles of public initiatives in this area but also to translate the previous concept of « landscape on demand » into the wider concept of « landscape plan ». Because they often intervene on landscapes already damaged from the past, they tend to focus on resource allocation rather than aesthetic issues. Besides the concept of sustainable development is a good way to increase the recognition of this profession which aims to distinguish itself in this field.
