Essai de stylistique quantitative Duplessis, Bourassa et Lévesque

Abstract : We present a comparison between the "speeches of the Throne" by three Prime Ministers whose impact on Québec's modern history has been very important: Maurice Duplessis, Robert Bourassa et René Lévesque. In order to analyse their personal styles, we use some indices - like richness and specialisation of vocabulary, length and structure of sentences, densities of the parts of speeches (grammatical categories) - which highlight some specificities. Despite strong institutional constraints, each Prime Minister puts a personal print on his text.
