Malentendus dans la décolonisation. Coopérants de l'enseignement supérieur au Maghreb (1960-1980)

Abstract : Cooperation and its actors coming from former colonial countries play a major role in the history of African independences, and the study of this period raises a lot of issues about the complexities and contradictions of the process of decolonization. Based on an oral history survey of french scholars involved in academic cooperation in the Maghreb, this article deals with successive sequences in the cooperation time : in a first period, common political representations and shared languages between french cooperators and the first generation of maghrebian students gives way to a rather consensual relationship ; the second period is more equivocal in which cooperators perceptions of their presence and mission change, along with the way Maghreb societies consider them. The text suggests hypothesis about the socio-historical developments that led to these convergences and divergences of temporality between cooperating actors and host societies.
