L'inscription rupestre de Nang An (Louang Phrabang)
Résumé
The short rock inscription of Nang An (Luang Prabang) testifies to the extension into Northern Laos of a type of writing that was in use in the Sukhotai region in the 14th century AD. Mr. Tatsuo Hoshino carried out a first interpretation of this inscription on the basis of photographs communicated by the author of the present study. A fresh examination in light of new fieldwork data, combined with the precious insights contributed by recent studies about Thailand epigraphy, now allow for a definitive reading, followed by an analysis and translation.
La courte inscription rupestre de Nang An (Louang Phrabang) atteste l'extension jusqu'au Nord-Laos d'un type d'écriture en usage dans la région de Sukhothai au XIVe siècle. Une première lecture de cette inscription suivie d'une interprétation a été proposée par M. Tatsuo Hoshino d'après les photographies communiquées par l'auteur du présent travail. Un meilleur examen de ces documents à l'aide de nouveaux relevés de terrain, et l'apport inestimable de nouvelles études sur l'épigraphie de la Thaïlande, permettent aujourd'hui d'en présenter une lecture définitive et d'en proposer une analyse et une traduction.
