Based on relevant archives and with the help of GIS software, this paper aims at discussing the possible relevance between space factors and urban crime of Shanghai. By studying the environment of places where crimes frequently occurred , the commercial functions , far - off road and lanes and alleys are regarded as the main factors inducing these concentrated theft and robbery cases.
