La représentation de l'individu en Inde et le paradoxe du " je "
Résumé
The notion of individuality in India has been viewed by sociologists (Erikson, Lannoy) as well as anthropologists (Dumont, Biardeau), as a paradox, since the individual is both only recognized by means of its position qithin the social hierarchy and at the same time epitonized as the very accomplishment of the social system though the figure of the sadhu, who relinguishes worldly society in order to work on his self, highest goal in the structured hierarchy. The study, starting from the negative judgements expressed by psychoanalyst Kakar and the writer Naipaul on such a 'non-separate' subject, elaborates on the positive aspects of this conception, in the philosophical and cultural field but also in the field of social and environmental activism.
La notion d'individu et d'individualité en Inde a été saisie par les sociologues (Erikson, Lannoy) et les anthropologues (Dumont, Biardeau) comme un paradoxe, n'accordant à la fois d'existence à l'individu que par sa place dans la stratification sociale, et en faisant en même temps le point de fuite et l'achèvement de l'édifice social à travers la figure du renonçant centré sur le travail sur soi (but suprême des fins de l'homme). L'étude développe, à partir des points de vue critiques exprimés par le psychanalyste Kakar et surtout Naipaul sur une conception du sujet 'non séparé', les aspects positifs qui investissent cette conception, sur les plans philosophiques et culturels, mais aussi dans les domaines de l'activisme social et environnemental.
