Résumé

A significant development between Sanskrit, the earlier attested stage in Indo-Aryan and the modern stage is the emergence of "experiencer subjects" in the dative case or other obliques in early NIA (begining of the second millenium). This rise was related to global systemic changes in the language, particularly the development of new case markers and the renewal of predicative lexicon which entailed in the long run a shift from syntactically constrained argument structures to semantically constrained argument structures, thus favoring semantic alignments
