Les Ateliers de potiers post-médiévaux de Saint-Quentin-la-Poterie (Gard) : Etat de la recherche.

Abstract : The past activity of Saint Quentin-la-Poterie, which only recently died out, has for serueral years inspired a renewal of interest and hope in a dynamic revival. Besides research on the médiéval potteries of the immédiate region, digs of kilns and dumping grounds of modem and contemporary potters from 1976 and 1982 have also been analysed. Using these results a skeleton typology in chronologicaî order of post-medieval production has been attempted. In order to manage better in the future the potters inheritance of Saint Quentin, a study of the chronological evolution of the village is under way, the better to determine the different periods in which various potteries were established. As for recent activité, an opération "lndustrial Patrimony", of which the main lines of research are here set out, will sum up the written information, the remains and the output. This long term project is improving knowledge of a great centre of pottery in the South East.
