Le risque lié aux comptes d'investissement participatifs : un risque propre aux banques islamiques

Abstract : The aim of our article is to study the displaced commercial risk, a specific risk to Islamic banks. This risk results from the management of unrestricted profit sharing investment accounts. It results more specifically from the behavior of their owners, who dissatisfied with the random returns offered by their Islamic bank, can withdraw their funds generating a serious liquidity risk to the institution. Under commercial pressure and/or regulation pressure, Islamic banks are forced to violate the principle of profits sharing with the holders of investment accounts and smooth the associated revenues on these accounts. This banking practice affects directly the prudential regulation of Islamic banks. Current existing regulations, including those of IFSB, are not effective and several criticisms can be addressed. The main limitation of the contribution of the IFSB is the arbitrary and undifferentiated of the proposed measure of displaced commercial risk.
